When I have a new project to knit, and in life happens the same, I begin full of expectations and very committed to doing everything right. With my first sweater is not being different ... but knitting ... as you know most of the time will not run as well as expected!
I started well: wool bought in sufficient quantity to ensure that it had the same batch to finish the sweater; made the gauge, in fact not one but two because I realized that with Drops Lima, due to my tight stitch, had to use needles #4.5 instead of the recommended #4, and ultimately could even used #5 - I am tense also in knitting; I took my measurements following Rosa Pomar instructions; introduce all at Raglanify that gave me the outline perfectly; cast on the most appropriate way ... I think ... and in this case it was the Portuguese way, and then began. Had not worked many rows when the first issue appeared. I decided to opt for kfb (knit front-and-back) increases but it turns out in circular knit, Portuguese way, we knit back way and so we are always purl working... so it could not be kfb but something as pfb (purl-front-and-back). Does it exist? Existed. Unknitted and did it again. Then when the time to join in a new ball came, and as the sweater has no seams, I came across more worries. I add new ball at the back of the sweater using the technique of two wires together but the truth is that I was not happy with the result. Still, despite everything I've learned about the small things that we are not satisfied in our knits, I continued. Of course, and as expected, when I joined the third ball, those imperfections were shouting and jumping in front of me. Unknitted, the corresponding to a ball and a half, all the work of a weekend, and went looking for a better way to join in a new ball. In knitting each "case" is a "case" and each "knitter" is a "knitter" and in this, as in so many other things, there are several ways to introduce a new ball. Some I knew others I didn´t, but I liked this the most. Despite all this effort, which goes on for more than four weeks , and already in the final stretch, I find that after all the wool is not enough and there is no more gray wool from the same lot ... and I feel a huge frustration. That feeling of "it's not fair, so I did everything as it was supposed to, so I engaged myself, I did not give in to the temptation to overlook small errors and ultimately will not be perfect?" And then in a moment of awareness, I think "this sweater is beautiful, feats very well, much better than I expected, I am proud of my work, and I learned a lot doing it and it gave me great pleasure. And this is what is perfect! Of course I'll finish the sweater, and how will I do it will also be a new learning, and I love wearing it all winter!
